Drama Busting Tips
It’s been a year of ups and downs and with these cycles it is natural to experience some drama. We’re often asked what can be done to prevent drama distractions. Our Promoting Brilliance consulting partners compiled a list of tips that we've shared over the last few months with clients, partners, and colleagues. Remember, above all else--make time to slow down and room to reflect before responding. Here are more suggestions:- Commit to a new practice of letting go of “judging” others
- Keep your sense of humor, when you cannot find it be sure to go find it
- Take responsibility, when issues arise do not blame others
- Do not invest in gossip or hearsay
- Compete with business competitors, not with coworkers or customers
- View complaints as opportunities
- Create clear agreements with others
- Know what is expected of one another
- Let people know when they are making a contribution that impacts you
- Express gratitude and appreciation regularly
- Be specific when giving feedback, avoid the use of “You…” statements
- Respect your boundaries and those of others
- Speak-up, take action and make decisions when you are calm
- Remember your personal feelings are not facts, wait if need be for the intensity of your feelings to pass before responding to others or making decisions
